General Podiatry care
Contrary to what some might think, GENERAL TREATMENT (GT’s) aren’t just to cut the toenails of those who have difficulty reaching their feet. A general treatment appointment involves the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of conditions.
- CALLOUS, CRACKS AND CORNS.
We live in Australia, we’re all going to wear thongs, but there are things you can do to look after your feet and stop the painful cracked heels, ASK US HOW!
Hard skin and corns usually occur on areas of the foot that take high pressures and shear stress.
In addition to reducing the skin we can assess ways to reduce the forces and spread them more evenly across the whole foot to reduce build up of skin and associated pain and discomfort.
This can be achieved with felt offloading/padding, footwear advice and custom foot orthotics.
THICKENED OR DISCOLOURED NAILS
Thickened, discoloured or ‘ugly’ looking toenails can be the cause of embarrassment to people of all ages and can be caused by fungal infection, nail trauma, prolonged use of nail polish just to name a few. It is important to get the correct diagnosis in order to get the best treatment outcome.
Treatments include laser therapy and topical antifungals alongside regular thinning out and trimming of the nail.
In addition here at HPS we offer Kerry Flex nail restoration. Read our BLOG HERE.
