What is Podiatric Surgery?
Podiatric Surgery is a registered specialty of the profession of podiatry. Specialists undertake accredited postgraduate training in podiatric medicine and surgery. Surgical podiatrists provide advice on the management of a range of painful conditions of the foot and ankle. When surgery is indicated, podiatric surgical scope includes a range of reconstructive foot and ankle procedures, including:
- Bunions and big toe deformities
- Hammer toes or painful toes
- Forefoot deformity and pain
- Midfoot deformity and arthritis
- Recalcitrant flatfoot or high arch conditions
- Tendon repairs
- Ligament reconstructions
